Re: Our Forums

February 7th, 2010 / Comments / by KingOfTehInternets

As some of you might already have noticed, behind the scenes we’re working on our forums. The forums have sucessfully been migrated from SMF to PHPBB3 without no dataloss, except for avatars. Tough, it didn’t went flawlessly. Ranks are messed up, posting seems to require  moderator approval(tough it’s disabled), registration text doesn’t change, emails ar enot sending out and many more issues…

Thus I’m looking for a ‘phpbb3′ who can help me out a bit, since phpbb3 is driving me crazy (I’m used to phpbb2… good old times). Please contact me, thanks !

Special thanks goes out to aonic, once again, for the all the work on the migration, and site, he did so far !

1.0.182: Hacker’s paradise

February 7th, 2010 / Comments / by KingOfTehInternets

Recently, patch 1.0.182 has been released which is rumored to be a fix for a number of hacks. All I can say so far for the reports I got submitted via email, that it’s more like a hacker’s paradise than anything else.. Never saw that much wicked stuff so fast after a patch got released.

Just have a look at the video below:

Pure awesomeness if you are the host, including:
- Switch player team (switch to spectator for god mode)
- Telefly (allows you to fly with ASDW / Space buttons)
- Teleport (teleport people to you or to others)
- Gravity (lower the gravity for better telefly)
- Infinite ammo (speaks for itself)

- Chopper esp
- Cold blood fix
- Name tags
- Thermal
- Black White Removal
- Lazers
- No Recoil

And last but not least, also a No recoil/spread hack, which also speak’s for itself.

Want to know how long you spent in the lobby ?

February 6th, 2010 / Comments / by KingOfTehInternets

For those of you with Xfire and MW2 and are interested how much time you spent in the lobby, searching for a game session, this might be of interest:

I’m not certain but the time played in the barracks seems to be the time actually in a game, and not in the lobby.
Xfire records how long you had the game open, so assuming you haven’t played a lot of private matches or don’t idle in the main menu for too long you can see how long you’ve played cod that you are trying to find matches.

Results:

On average 50 hours spent in lobby, as reported by several users via our forums.

Screenshots courtesy of Anarchy.

Now compare it to your COD4 stats. Pure awesomeness, isn’t it ?

Submitted by via email. Thanks !

Forums are broken

February 1st, 2010 / Comments / by KingOfTehInternets

Not only the Infinity Ward forums are broken, but so are the ModernWarfail2.com’ forums. After both VPSes crashed yesterday, the forum hasn’t come back online correctly, thus displaying the following error:

Notice: Undefined variable: sourcedir in /srv/www/forum/public_html/index.php on line 56

Warning: require_once(/QueryString.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /srv/www/forum/public_html/index.php on line 56

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/QueryString.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/mw2/lib/php’) in /srv/www/forum/public_html/index.php on line 56

I’m just letting you guys know we’re aware of the problem and looking for a solution. Personally I would like to upgrade to vBulletin because I’ve totally had it with SMF and all it’s gateway errors and stuff, but we need to look into the options of converting the current forum database to vBulletin, as I don’t want to see any data go lost in the upgrade process.

I will keep you posted.

UPDATE: Aonic, our server booster and magician, managed to get the forums back up in just a couple of minutes.(Thanks !!). He also suggested that instead of upgrading straight to vBulletin, we should first try to upgrade to a newer SMF version (SMF 2.0 RC2). If that doesn’t work, we can always upgrade to vBulletin later. The downside of upgrading to vBulleti,n is that all user passwords will go lost, thus you will have to reset your password via your email, which is annoying.

FourZeroTwo’s FAIL Train, Full Steam ahead !

January 31st, 2010 / Comments / by KingOfTehInternets

Sshh… do you guys hear what I hear ? It’s Robert’s FAIL Train again ! And it’s coming at us with full steam.

I recently blogged about FourZeroTwo caught playing Modern Warfare 2 on PC and that his played hours on Steam weren’t adding up, which I concluded from he was just being AFK in the in-game menu. Guess what, apparently I was right.
After the weekend, I noticed something odd on Robert’s Steam page. His played hours jumped from 2.2 to 66.5 hours, in just 1 day. As far as I know, a day has 24 hours, so where did all those extra hours come from ? It could have been due to the ‘lag’ of the Steam profiles’ page synching with the played hours on the actual account itself, but I highly doubt that.

Robert said, in regard to this:

It’s magic.
or….. I just locked my computer without closing everything when I went home for the weekend.
One of these two scenarios are true.

Source: http://www.infinityward.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=256910&start=0=

Well Robert, the second one scenario seems the most plausible to me.. but hold on a second. Since when do you play MW2 on PC anyway !? So how is it possible to forget to close down MW2 in the first place anyway ?

Also, Robert still hasn’t learned how VAC works. In a recent topic over at the IW forums, were Robert actually responded in, basically someone asked if making changes to the .cfg files are VAC bannable (it’s a well-known fact that VAC doesn’t ban for that).
402 said that changes to the config can trigger a ban. Someone told him the truth citing the Steam site, and he spouted out a BS reply to cover for not knowing anything. Then he said that texture hacks are bannable. He got owned a bit more, didn’t reply, and then locked the topic, saying:

Glad you got the answers you were looking for.
I was playing it a bit safe, but as you can see there are a number of helpful posters that can give you specifics as to what you can change and how

Prestige scripted poorly

January 31st, 2010 / Comments / by KingOfTehInternets

Submitted by ‘coldasice’ via our forum:

I recently prestiged. Now when I start the game and immediately press play I first get to see picture #1 then #2 which means prestige isn’t even coded to be a seperate rank. It’s coded to paste a prestige icon over your old rank along with some cvar number changes to enable prestige challenges. But that’s about it.
Due to it having to load after loading your normal rank it doesn’t display directly but rather a second after. Again some lazy coding from IW

IW used a hacked account for their official trailer ?

January 31st, 2010 / Comments / by KingOfTehInternets

After studying the official ‘flag runner’ trailer again, Chaotix found something interesting. At 0:43 the ‘player’ kills an enemy named DEADYBEARD which is level 35, no prestige, and has the animated spinning golden 10th prestige skull as emblem..

The Full trailer can be found at:

That arises some questions. Until today, it’s unsure which challanges/requirements need to be completed to get that emblem. Some say all prestige challenges need to be completed, others say you can only get it while ‘prestiged’ (so not as a ‘normal’ level 70), while others say you need to get 1000 kills with an AC-130.

So, did Infinity Ward used a hacked account for their official trailer ?
