I was a console gamer until cod5 was released. My xbox360 got a red ring of death and I decided to buy cod5 for pc. What an amazing difference! hundreds of nazi zombie maps, a nazi zombie multiplayer mod (zombieX) and 64 people per map! Then i buy mw2 before reading that it was ported from the console to pc and now this! Nice find, but unfortunately all you people out there need to realize something horrible which could make some of you go crazy and kill some IW employees.

Most pc games I see get free dlc other consoles pay for not just the cod series. Heres why IW moved to Steam.... Borderlands! Games like this running on steam or steam only have DLC you need to pay for! So theres your answer. Just like borderlands soon you will see MODERN WARFARE 2 MAPPACK... $19.99

then a long fun description, a middle finger, and who knows what else. This is most likely going to be the case, so if this does happen ill just join the hackers and spread some hacks and ruin the game and turn everyone over to hamachi or tunngle or some other pirate network where we can all have 100% control over the game.

Why dont game companies just hire modders to work at their companys? you guys know what the community wants and you dont mind making it. they would be more succesful if they allowed modders to make DLC for the consoles and in return allowed them to keep their modding abllitys with out hacking the game. no im not saying you make DLC for the consoles only, im saying have the PC communite vote on their favorite maps for that month and then send those maps to the consoles.
i would rather pay for something the communite made then something the studio made.

Seriously, just one question - what's the proof you're going to need to pay for the stuff hidden on the disc? They might just work for patches on it.

I want to hang a notice over the rest of this post: I think this generation of Consoles is the most balanced that have ever existed at one time, and what you choose to play on, whether it be PC or Console, depends entirely on what you as a gamer personally prefer.

Under what circumstances would it be OK to pay for something to be unlocked on a piece of media that you already own? It's like spending five bucks to unlock special features on a 20 dollar DVD. Everyone saying that PC gamers need to STFU about this needs to look at the big picture.

Imagine you are a console gamer, I don't care which console. Look at the history of DLC on consoles. Console gamers have mostly always had to pay for new content, even if it isn't worth the money you spend on it.

Case in point, Halo 3. The Legendary map pack was released with three new maps, for ten dollars. Then six months later, ODST comes out with not only those three maps, the maps in the Heroic pack (Ten Dollars), but (GASP!) three new maps, also in the Legendary category! Not more then a month ago, the Legendary pack Part Two was released on live, with the three new maps from ODST. WTF?

This is not good distribution. A PC gamer would never pay thirty dollars for nine new maps. Why? Because they've been designing their own maps since the original DOOM! What's been the point of the last 15+ years of console evolution if you stay in this endless cycle of payment for services rendered? Oh, but Halo 3 has Forge! Forge is shit! Why? Because you just spawn objects!

The only series of console games that I've ever encountered that truly let you make your own maps was the Timesplitters series on PS2 and original Xbox. This was a series that is miles ahead of Halo's Forge, because it let you design every facet of the map, from layout and textures, to enemy spawns, to enemy behavior, to challenges, to sequences. PC players can argue that it was crippled by the consoles that it ran on, but at least it was a step in the right direction. Letting Console users create their own maps, TRULY create their own maps, is something that I have never seen since on Consoles.

PC never has had this problem. Good Modding communities are everywhere on PC, and help keep old games like Tribes 2 alive far longer then they would on Consoles, because they can create new content for the games they love. It's only a matter of time before consoles become powerful enough to handle modding, but it'll be decades in the making if Companies like Microsoft, Infinity Ward, Epic Studios, and all these other developers realize that they can inflate their profit by milking money from consumers for content that they should have from the beginning.

At least try to understand why PC gamers are upset about IW releasing a game that's over 15 years behind the times.

OK so let's say that since we purchased the game and therefore you have the right to have access to everything on that disc on your own computer..

Shouldn't we then be able to file a law suit against IW for this? I mean if they do eventually charge us for DLC, I would label it as fraud since they are forcing you to pay for access to something you already paid for.

That's like buying a ticket to a movie, and then in the middle of it you are told you have to pay again if you would like to see the ending..

Okay this is my opinion on the entire situation.
For what they did, I am happy that it wont take them 6 months from release to finally add new maps. Would it have been any different if they finished early but kept the hidden stuff on an external hard-drive at their work.

However,
We did pay for the game and all of its content should be yours right?
I still cant believe that IW would do something like this.
Dont get me wrong i am still mad at them for it ,but is it really as big a deal as we are making it?

Can this little hack get us banned from Steam, if so isnt a bit risky to do that. 10 dollars for DLC< 60 dollars for a new game.
