Thanks From Iraq…

Even the US troops in Iraq are pissed off by Infinity Ward, because of the lacking LAN functionality. One of them, nicknamed Outcast1Bravo, wrote the following post at the official IW forums:

Thanks so much for this rotting piece of garbage that is this MP experience, IW. I can't believe you devs are so completely lazy and money hungry that you would totally screw the PC community that made your series so popular. What is even worse, is that I, and everyone else for that matter, cannot even enjoy a LAN game, which is a must when deployed given our horrid internet connectivity over here. That alone is a game killer for me. After a long day of patrolling, getting shot at with small arms fire, RPGs, being IED', and RKG-3'd to death, literally... we can't blow off a little steam and relax with some CoD. Thanks gents, thanks a lot.

We took a little time during our patrol at a IP station to say thanks.

For those of you out there yelling that the above picture is fake, which I can imagine for a bit since their is something wrong with the top of the picture, I asked for more proof  in his topic, for instance if he could make another picture, holding up a sign with ModernWarfail2.com handwritten (or something similar), so that we all knew for sure that this isn't a fake, and here is what I found in my email today:

If you recall my post in the IW forums titled Thanks from Iraq, I posted a picture of myself and another soldier holding up a sign we made.
I'd post this new picture via that post, however, my account has since been suspended. Thanks IW.
Here is a new one I made with 5.56 ammo I delinked.
Ganted, the 2 in Modern Warfail isn't there, simply forgot about it when I took the photo, but I think it works.

  • Lets blow this up and get it on Xplay on G4 that might do the trick. I havent even played the game and refused to buy it once I read there was no dedicated servers. the devs dont give a fuck though they made thier money...

    I wonder what TWL and CAL leagues are doing about this?

    That is just so wrong. If there were just one kind of buysers they have to listen to, then the soldiers who want to play their games whilst being deployed overseas. I can't believe their ignorance. This really is outrageous. I will spread the word as far as I can - people have to know what IW thinks of deployed soldiers overseas "Just another voice here on the forums - let's ban his account!"

    First you sit around in a humvee all day expecting to be blown up by an IED, then you sit around in front of a computer all day, expecting to be connected to a game. Welcome to hell.

    All joking aside though, I am not the kind to use the suffering of "protected/respected" people to my ends, but this highlights a major shortcoming of MW2. What are people who are geographically "isolated" going to do? I am one of them, I guess, and a ping below 150 is barely possible (once in a blue moon). IWNET screws over people who don't live smack in the middle of the eastern US or western Europe.

    must be lame ass hell, getting a copy of MW2, and finding out that the damned thing doesn't have lan. and i don't even want to think about the lag hell they are in over there, considering it's already bad everywere in EU/USA.

    if i was working at IW i'd be worried about when the guy is coming back, i'm sure he can do more with bullets then write letters with it. maybe play a bit of real life CoD in IW's backyard? :p

    If only. The lack of LAN enabled PC games is growing and scary. Ever heard of the phrase "Digital Divide"? It exists, and not everyone has internet.

    The fact that actual soldiers hate IW could ruin them. If any military personal hates a military game or FPS, then its usually bad news to the company. I have a feeling this article will flourish and be popular pretty soon... I know I will help sending links too.
