Post Patch Model 1887 Analysis
As you probably know, Infinity Ward ‘nerfed’/ re-balanced the Akimbo Model 1887 in their latest patch, thus making it’s range/damage (?) shorter/less than before patching.
Still, it has been rumored on our forums, that if you use Bling and equip the Model 1887 with FMJ together with akimbo, the ranges should be back to normal. However, other players report that ‘Apparently even this combination does not return it’s range to 100% of what it used to be. Besides not everyone likes/has/wants to use Bling Pro’
The only way we can determine when ether this is true, is to put it to the test. Luckily YouTube user XxOblivion69 did this and here’s the result:
All in-game footage is post-patch and has been created using the Xbox 360’s version of the game. But since the 360 got the exact same patch, *cough* console port *cough*, as the PC version, this analysis/comparison is also accurate for the latest PC patch, version 1.0.174.
As you can see, the range and damage of the ‘normal single non-akimbo’ Model 1887 hasn’t been touched, however the akimbo Model 1887 has clearly been nerfed.
But what’s really surprising, is the fact that, equipped with Bling, FMJ and Akimbo, the range (and damage (?)) of the Model 1887 is larger in comparison to the old Model 1887 Akimbo !
Still, this is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. You can’t really compare the two properly, since you’ll need to sacrifice a perk for it.
But, in the end, I believe Infinity Ward made the problem even worse, since I think people will start using this setup now as a replacement of their old Akimbo Model 1887 class.
